Medical Oncology refers to the treatment of cancer using chemotherapy. A variety of cancer drugs are used to meet the special needs of each patient.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation oncology (also known as radiotherapy or radiation therapy) is the medical use of ionizing radiation as part of cancer treatment.
Surgical Oncology
Surgical Oncology is the sub-specialty of cancer treatment related to surgical removal of tumors. Solace Cancer Care's Surgical Oncology services are focused on cancers of the breast.
Hematology
Hematology is the treatment of diseases related to the blood.

Dr. Figueroa Honored for Health Care Efforts
On August 28, the Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce honored Dr. Michael Figueroa with the individual Virgil Covington Award at the 24th annual Industrial Barbecue at Win-River Casino in Redding. An article about the honor which appeared in the Record Searchlight stated "Figueroa has worked tirelessly for nearly 25 years to save lives and improve the quality of life for cancer patients. He was medical director at Mercy Regional Cancer Center for more than 10 years and is a current board member of Nor-Cal Think Pink, a breast cancer awareness campaign that started in Redding and has been adopted by communities across the nation."

Dr. Philben Completes Move to Join Solace
We are pleased to announce that, as of August 24, Dr. Vicki Philben completed her move to join our team of radiation and medical oncologists. Dr. Philben will now see all of her patients at 310 Hartnell Ave. in Redding. Dr. Philben joined Solace on April 15th, 2009. She continues her special focus in the area of breast surgery as she has done for the past fifteen years in Redding.
